Meet "SHASTA"
Also Nicknamed Ko-wish-ka (or Thankful)
From the Shasta Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitaion (SWRR)
Kowishka is a California Valley Coyote.  He was rescued as an 4 month old pup (also known as a cub) after he had been kicked in the head by a horse.  Kowishka could not be returned to the wild because he had suffered neurological damage and lost part of his hearing and eyesight.  He was allowed by the Department of Fish and Game to remain in captivity.  He will be placed at his new home soon.

Kowishka's handler is Marianne Dickison from the SWRR.  Marianne works with a team of volunteers that help nurse animals back to health and  then returning them to the wild.

Kids, remember that wild animals can be very dangerous and you should not approach them or raise them in captivity.  Leave that up to the real experts so no one gets hurt.  Wild animals require safety gear when handled or rescued.
